Visions of Hawai‘i is the report of a study to sample the range of formal vision statements developed by organizations in the state of Hawai‘i. The intent of the study was to establish an initial understanding of the current state of visioning in Hawai‘i, to essentially find out ‘what is out there.’ The vision statement sampling for the study was designed to research and review formal vision statements from a wide variety of local organizations, both public and private, large and small. |

This piece, to be published in Futures Research Quarterly (Winter 2003) proposes an integral futures approach to revitalizing environmental scanning. After the diagnosis of current problems, the basic steps of an integral environmental scanning are explained. Examples of how this approach is being applied at Dow Chemical are provided. While still in the early stages, they should provide a sense of real world application that builds on some of the seminal theoretical work in this space being developed by the Australian Foresight Institute. |
