This study undertaken for Sports Business Research Network of Princeton, New Jersey, and completed in October 2007 documents some of the many health benefits of regular exercise, examines the reasons why many people are not getting enough exercise for good health, identifies 15 contemporary trends that are working in favor of more physically active lives for adults and children, includes 4 scenarios for how the interaction between forces favoring active and inactive lifestyles may play out over the next quarter century, and concludes with detailed recommended strategies for sports and fitness organizations.
